Hello, I’m

Effie Kli

After my training in the fields of trauma and the nervous system, through teaching and supporting private clients and groups, and thanks to my personal insights from my own healing journey after living with unresolved trauma for almost 20 years, I realised our body is more powerful than we’re taught, and our nervous system more resilient than we believe.

As a child, I believed I had the perfect childhood. Only until I experienced a sudden family loss when I was ten and my life turned upside down. Following that traumatic event, nothing was the same again and to cope with the effects of trauma and pain, I developed several wise coping strategies.

Hypervigilance, perfectionism, anxiety, workaholism, rage, overfunctioning, just to name a few.

For almost two decades, I lived in survival mode without even knowing it. I mistook my coping strategies with my personality, and convinced myself this was how life was supposed to be.

I was wrong.

The veil was lifted when I went through a difficult period of high anxiety and panic attacks exactly when I thought I’d had everything figured out. I had a well-paid job, I lived in London and enjoyed a vibrant social life.

But something inside of me was screaming.

I felt lost and confused, so I went down the path of medication after being diagnosed with generalised anxiety disorder. I took it and it helped, but when I came off it, anxiety returned, and I was back at square one.

Despite the powerlessness I experienced, the discomfort pushed me to look for solutions beyond mainstream ones.

Deep down I didn’t believe I suffered from any disorder. Knowing my life story, I knew that my body was having a normal response to what I experienced decades ago.

This is when I came across the word ‘trauma’ and it baffled me that at the time it wasn’t talked about enough. I started reading every book on it, but still I hadn’t realised I’d just discovered something that would soon change me forever.

Because it did. Not only did I experience somatic healing as a client and this transformed me in ways I never believed were possible, but after witnessing the profound change in my life, I started training in somatic-based and trauma-informed modalities because I knew that many others suffer unnecessarily the same way I did.

You see, we can’t heal through the same cultural values that make us sick.

Since then, I’ve worked with hundreds of people privately and in a group setting, offered workshops on anxiety, anger, emotional processing and attachment styles through the lens of the nervous system, and created my 12-week signature programme Healing Trauma Guided by the Body that’s been running since 2022 twice a year.

What fulfils me is helping people trust their body again, believe in its capacity to heal and activate the innate restorative powers of their nervous system after trauma, so they go from stuckness to vitality.

in a nutshell

what i’m loving

Talking about the dysfunctions of our culture so that people see how normal their body responses are.

what i’m learning

Healing takes work and fast-track results are fake promises. We don’t do this here.

what i’m
not about

Trying to ‘fix’ or ‘save’ my students and clients. I see their personal power and my only job is to help them embody it.

what i
believe

Our healing begins once we start replacing shame with compassion, and fear with curiosity.
